About
James Hills grew up in Central Maine and enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 2005.
After completing Recruit Training Command (Great Lakes, IL), he reported to the Defense Information School (Fort George G. Meade, MD) for the Photographer's Mate accession course. Between 2006 and 2008, he served as a broadcast journalist providing news and entertainment programming to service members and their families through American Forces Network's television and radio services.
In 2008, he reported to the Naval Justice School (Newport, RI) for conversion to Legalman. Between 2008 and 2012, he supported Commander, Navy Region Hawaii and served as a paralegal and court reporter at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam. Between 2012 and 2015, he supported Commander, Carrier Strike Group 11 and served as a supervising paralegal for USS NIMITZ (CVN 68) during an 8-month deployment in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. Between 2015 and 2018, he supported the Chief of Naval Air Training and served as supervising paralegal at Naval Air Station Corpus Christi. Between 2018 and 2020, he served as the legal officer at Naval Technical Training Center Lackland, San Antonio. Between 2020 and 2022, he served as law office manager and supervising paralegal at Naval Air Station Sigonella, Italy.
Currently, Chief Hills serves as the law office manager and senior military paralegal at U.S. Space Command at Peterson Space Force Base, Colorado.
He received a bachelors in paralegal studies from Roger Williams University in 2014 and a masters in public management from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi in 2019.
His military decorations include the Navy & Marine Corps Commendation Medal (two awards), Navy & Marine Corps Achievement Medal (eight awards), Joint Meritorious Unit Award, Meritorious Unit Commendation (three awards), Good Conduct Medal (seven awards), National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Armed Forces Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal (two awards), Sea Service Ribbon, and Overseas Service Ribbon (three awards).
